SIXTY-SIX NORTHEAST STUDENT-ATHLETES NAMED TO NJCAA ALL-ACADEMIC TEAMS

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Sixty-six Northeast Community College student-athletes have been named to the various National Junior College Athletic Association All-Academic teams for their work in the classroom this year, it was announced by the NJCAA Thursday.

Student-athletes are eligible to earn academic honors by achieving an overall grade-point average of 3.60 or higher for the 2023-24 academic year. To be named to the All-Academic First Team, the student-athlete must have earned a 4.0 GPA. To be named to the All-Academic Second Team, the student-athlete must have earned a 3.80-3.99 GPA. The requirement to be named to the All-Academic Third Team is a GPA of 3.60-3.79.

Additionally, seven athletic programs at Northeast joined 1,194 NJCAA teams across the nation in being named 2023-24 NJCAA Academic Teams of the Year. The baseball, men's golf, men's soccer, softball, volleyball, women's basketball and women's soccer teams at Northeast all received the recognition.

The following student-athletes earned the distinction of Academic All-Region:

Baseball:

First Team: Aidan Brainard (Littleton, Colo.), Cade Grevengoed (West Des Moines, Iowa), Kale Jensen (Central City, Neb.), Haiden Magnussen (Pierce, Neb.)

Second Team: Trenton Barry (Wahoo, Neb.), Tristen Beyer (North Platte, Neb.), Braden Cork (Omaha, Neb.), Jayden Douglas (Loveland, Colo.), Gabe Rodriguez (Thornton, Colo.), Nick Vilims (Evergreen, Colo.), Rusty Wortman (Gretna, Neb.)

Third Team: Jack Borgmann (Norfolk, Neb.), Nick Miszuk (Parker, Colo.), Derek Woolwine (Boulder, Colo.)

Men's Golf:

Second Team: Martin Hempston (London, England), Tanner Walling (Wayne, Neb.)

Third Team: Emmett Woodland (Ontario, Canada)

Men's Basketball:

First Team: Ben Hammond (Norfolk, Neb.), Raden Orton (Mills, Neb.)

Third Team: Luke Brown (Hobart Australia), Chase Williams (Omaha, Neb.)

Men's Soccer:

First Team: Victor Hidalgo (Valladolid, Spain), Jeppe Jellesen (Hobro, Denmark), Matej Motycka (Sestajovice, Czech Republic)

Second Team: Miguel Da Silva (Canberra, Australia), Soeren Hermansen (Varde, Denmark), Mathias Kristoffersen (Skovby, Denmark), Ben Schoenherr (Norfolk, Neb.)

Third Team: Aleksander Pedersen (Aarhus, Denmark), Jeevan Purewal (Wolverhampton, England), Luca Rosen (London, England), Owen Rutledge (Omaha, Neb.)

Softball:

First Team: Ahdriana Medrano (Grand Island, Neb.)

Second Team: Kaia Kollmar (Norfolk, Neb.), Kya Swartz (Malmo, Neb.)

Third Team: Lauren Lucero (Berthoud, Colo.), Lauren Marker (Kearney, Neb.)

Volleyball:

First Team: Alexa Cunningham (Wausa, Neb.), Shaylyn Safranek (Merna, Neb.)

Second Team: Lilly Otten (Pilger, Neb.)

Women's Basketball:
